About CENTRA-2016

The intended outcomes of the CENTRA-2016 meeting are (1) the identification of concrete problems of interest to several attendees (a “team of collaborators”) whose expertise can be brought together to devise novel solutions, (2) initial team interactions and discussions of possible solutions for the identified problems, (3) formulation of a technical roadmap and milestones for work to be done by each team in researching the chosen approaches, including testbeds/experimental setups to be used, and (4) plans of work for the following year, entailing frequent interaction – including short exchange visits, in-person meetings at other workshops/conferences and electronic communication --  leading to technical results, publications and prototypes.

Towards the desired outcomes, the first day of the agenda includes a “flyby”session introducing the technical scope of CENTRA work, followed by short “dive-in” presentations (7-10 minutes) by each investigator providing a summary of their research expertise and interests in collaborative efforts. These talks include introductions to testbeds that would be accessible to CENTRA researchers. At the beginning of the second day working groups will be formed, each group corresponding to a team of collaborators around a problem of common interest. The second and third days are dedicated to working group meetings in “catch-a-problem” sessions and “plan-a-solution” sessions interspersed with plenary reports by each group. Summary reports of progress done by the working groups are made during the closing “takeaway” session of the formal part of the CENTRA-2016 meeting. Informal discussions and additional cross-fertilization of ideas will occur during the cultural event taking place on April 2nd.
