Storage Resource Broker (SRB) 目前為美國國家兆級格網 (Teragrid)所規定使用之儲存介面軟體，亦為歐洲資料格網及日本國家格網計畫列為主要使用介面，其重要性與未來性，值得關注。國網中心之國家知識創新格網 (KING)計畫，亦採用 SRB 為主要儲存介面。
近年來，在工程與科學甚至民生上的資訊應用，由於儲存硬體的降價，極快極深，使的分析與觀測的資料蒐集，走向更實際化、大型化；而且，已漸能允許超大型的數值、影音多媒體資料的放置。然而，其極限還在。如何可以*無限延伸*儲存空間，並能即時擷取資料，是迫切待解的問題-- SRB 即為其中一個出色的方法與工具。
國網中心，為使各大學與研究單位，能更有效率的使用、分享資料儲存設施, 包括 KING 儲存設施的分享，特別與聖地牙哥超級電腦中心(SDSC)合辦，邀請 SRB 開發團隊核心成員，舉辦本次的技術研討會議。將直接探觸 SRB 的技術核心，並深入探討其應用，竭誠歡迎您的參與。
As the boost of computing and network power, applications can generate huge data set in a short time. How to manage huge data sets and transfer them to user's destination is a hot topic in grid development society.
Developed by the SRB team in SDSC's Data and Knowledge Systems (DAKS) program, the SDSC SRB middleware package enables scientists to create, manage, and collaborate with flexible, unified "virtual data collections" that may be stored on heterogeneous data resources distributed across a network. It has been adopted by many data intensive application projects since its first release in 1997.
To promote grid application in Taiwan, NCHC coordinated with SDSC SRB group to organize an advanced tutorial -“Tutorial for SRB as a Data Grid Solution”. Researchers from SDSC SRB group, Michael Wan and Arun Swaran Jagatheesan will share the state-of-the-art technology deep inside in the tutorial.
